The Ulster Skeet club was founded in August 2001. This came about when several Northern Ireland, National Skeet competitors were approached in July 2001 by Johnny Walker, founder of the English Skeet Club and were asked would they consider starting a Skeet Club in Northern Ireland.
John Church, Roy Stewart and Richard Dowse floated the idea and it was found to have approval from most of the National Skeet shooters. As a large number of competitors on the skeet scene were from County Donegal and other areas just outside Northern Ireland, the Ulster Skeet Club was thus formed.
The Ulster Skeet Club looks to promote the National Skeet discipline within clay shooting in Ulster and looks to encourage young people, both male and female to try the sport. This young blood is the future of shooting and the USC will do all it can to support these young people as they develop in Skeet ensuring a safe, dedicated and encouraging atmosphere at all events.
In recent years the Ulster Skeet Club have enjoyed success, not only in the main Senior section of the Annual International Competition, but also in the Junior category. This success has been against tough Junior Competition from mainland countries where shooting at a National level receives much attention and sponsorship. Some of the Ulster Juniors have went on to compete with the best Seniors across the UK and Ireland and also represented the main Northern Ireland shooting team.
The Ulster Skeet Club has also benefited from the support of Veterans and Ladies through the years.
